The Climate Change Crisis and Education – Session Summary
January 29, 2024Last Thursday marked a significant occasion for Al-Qasemi Academic College as it welcomed Her Excellency, the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Israel Marriet Schuurman, for a pivotal discussion on academic collaboration. A meeting was held that delved into the realms of potential partnerships with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Netherlands.
Dr. Abeer Watted, Vice President for Development of Programs & Projects and Director of The International Relations Office, initiated the proceedings with an insightful discourse on prospective collaborations. Highlighting the mutual benefits of academic partnerships, Dr. Watted set the stage for a dialogue aimed at fostering academic excellence through international cooperation, namely, Erasmus agreements that can allow students and staff exchange.
Following Dr. Watted’s address, Dr. Iman Alloush, the Dean of Students, shed light on the transformative impact of international relations on our student body. Emphasizing the enriching experiences that international collaborations offer, Dr. Alloush elucidated how such engagements empower students to broaden their horizons and embrace diverse perspectives.
An eloquent testament to the value of international exchange, Aya Saadi, an exchange student, shared her firsthand experiences with the audience. Through her narrative, Aya articulated the profound personal and academic growth facilitated by cross-cultural encounters, underscoring the significance of global engagement in shaping well-rounded individuals.
Providing a comprehensive overview of Al-Qasemi’s international relations and activities, Mrs. Layan Awesat Mawasy, the Coordinator of the International Academic Relations Office, elucidated the strategic initiatives undertaken by the college to nurture global partnerships. Her detailed exposition offered valuable insights into the collaborative endeavors driving Al-Qasemi’s international outreach efforts.
The culmination of the meeting was marked by a campus tour, during which the Ambassador had the opportunity to witness firsthand the vibrant academic community thriving within Al-Qasemi Academic College. From state-of-the-art facilities to the dynamic exchange of ideas in classrooms, the tour offered a glimpse into the ethos of excellence that defines our institution.
The Ambassador was very impressed with the college, expressing optimism for future engagements, she commended the proactive approach adopted by the college in forging enduring ties with international partners.
